The Department of Philosophy was established at the very beginning of the College i.e. 1955..The then vice principal Professor Lutfur Rahman sir was the Head of the Department and Professor Kiran Choudhry was his colleague. After retirement of Lutfur Rahman Sir Professor Kiran Choudhury took the charge and Dr Hemanta Kumar Kalita was joined on 5th December 1990. Professor Choudhury was retired on 1994 and Dr. Kalita was chaired the head. Dr. Mantu Kumar Das was joined in the post of Choudhury. But when Department decided to introduce major couse from 1998-99 academic session it needs more faculty to cover the syllabus. But authority gave us a scope to run the 1st year class by the existing faculties and if satisfied then be provided another hand to carry out the major couse smoothly. As such we maitained carefully and result of the major students were found satisfactory than we expected. Now we have four faculties three of them permamnent one is contractual. Dr. Mantu kumar had resigned from the post as he joined in the post of principal in Habraghat College. Dr.Hemanta Kumar Kalita. Mrs Joytsna Das. Mr Mridul Taye and Mrs Mridusmita Chakraborty are sincerely working in the Department.
